Tutorial: Type Of Metal Packing Steel Drum Closure

The top of the steel barrel should be set according to the type of opening, the mouth of the barrel or called the seal, the purpose is easy to open, easy to use, and to ensure that the contents do not leak.

Due to the different openings of each type of steel drum, the closing way of the opening parts of the drum is also different.

The same opening of the steel barrel used by the type of barrel mouth parts can also be different, which depends on the performance of the contents to decide.

The type of the closure：

(1) plug type

A plug with external thread and a top screw ring with internal thread form a seal consisting of a plug, a screw ring, a washer, a liner, and a cap for a small opening steel drum, as shown in figure 7-34(a).

(2) the screw cap type

A barrel cover structure with an internal and external screw cap is suitable for small opening steel drums and steel pails, as shown in figure 7-34(b).

Press the pressure type

(1) pressure type plug

It is suitable for use in small opening steel drums and drums through snap press and drum mouth sealing, as shown in figure 7-35(a).

(2) press the cap

Lap lock type elastic cover with serrated edge and sealing gasket can be combined with special pressure collar to form snap seal for small opening steel drums and barrels, as shown in figure 7-35 (b).

The top pressure type

(1)   Gland type

It forms a seal with the opening of the barrel by pulling and pressing, and is suitable for the steel barrel with middle opening, as shown in Fig. 7-36.

(2)   Bolt type

The top gland consists of a cover, a triangle ring, a washer, a bolt and a nut for use in a middle opening steel drum, as shown in figure 7-37.

Closed ring type

The sealing hoop is a kind of forming belt, which is used to fix the movable cover of the full opening steel drum and the shrinking neck steel drum. According to the different fixing devices, it can be divided into screw type sealing hoop and lever type sealing hoop.

(1) the screw type

A screw is used to connect both ends of the forming ring to realize the device for fixing the barrel cover, as shown in Fig. 7-38(a).

(2) the lever type

By connecting the two ends of the ring belt with a lever, the device for fixing the barrel cover can be realized as long as the handle is moved, as shown in Figure 7-38 (b).
